A LETTER
from the founder

If you've gotten this far, you're likely curious about what this is. Let me explain.

This is Tender and Violent. It explores dichotomies in great love stories through user interface and experience. It is simultaneously a creative space as well as an investigation of whether design can be used as a tool to understand the intangible.

By dichotomies, I simply mean to express the idea that love admits contrast - it is capable of causing both pleasure and misery at any given moment. Conceptualizing this duality through design is worthwhile insofar as we acquire a new perspective, giving us a playful way to draw threads between different facets of love.

I invite you to contemplate the nature of love. Consider its fragility and its refusal to conform to something entirely good or bad. See love as something praiseworthy, potentially destructive, and difficult to navigate. And catch a glimpse of beauty in these love stories, if only to expand the beauty in yours.
